I developed alopecia when I was 10 years old. The effect it had on me, and as a result of this, my immediate family, was to say the least, devastating. I underwent all the normal tests from the age of 10, but as we all know there is neither a cure nor a reason why alopecia happens. Whenever I heard of a ‘so called latest cure’ I was there, testing it out.

Looking back I can see how I went in search of anything which promised me the one thing I wanted more than anything in the world. It took me a long time to accept that my hair would never grow back again. Whilst I take credit in arriving at this stage in my life, I also have to credit Ray Marston Wig Studio as being the most influential figure of my life since developing alopecia.

Prior to wearing one of Ray Marston’s wigs I had worn NHS acrylic wigs and tried various wig makers, the ones where everybody spots you in a crowd and says, or at least thinks, ‘she’s wearing a wig!’ Ray Marston stopped those comments dead. I cannot explain in words the impact on my life that the first wig I had made by Ray Marston had on me, other than that they gave me back my life.

To describe the wig as stunning is no understatement.

In finally being able to accept that I had alopecia, and that there was nothing I could do to make my hair grow back, my confidence had started to grow. With the purchase of my first Ray Marston wig this confidence just went through the roof. I was no longer the head in the crowd who ‘wore a wig’, I was normal once more.

I have been with Ray Marston and his team now for over ten years. The sheer professionalism, help and friendship shown to me is exceptional. The company extend this professionalism and friendship to all of their clients, and nobody is made to feel more or less important than anybody else.

I will be eternally grateful to them.
